Our Team

Dr. Robert Huston, the primary veterinarian, graduated from the University of Queensland in 1993. He has worked in both mixed and small animal practices across Australia and abroad, bringing extensive experience to the care of your pet. Dr. Rob is committed to providing honest advice and delivering the best possible care for you and your pet—always working within what is achievable for everyone. In addition to his veterinary qualifications, Dr. Rob holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, a Master of Philosophy in Medical Science, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Science. He relocated from Brisbane to the picturesque Mooloolah Valley to raise his family and enjoy more space for his cat, dog, chickens, and goats. His children attended the local C&K Kindy, Glenview Primary School, and Chancellor State College, and are now continuing their education at the University of Queensland.

Kristie, our qualified veterinary nurse with over 20 years of experience, has returned to Mooloolah Valley with her family, where she grew up. With her extensive veterinary knowledge and a caring, compassionate approach, Kristie provides outstanding, personalized care for every patient. Kristie is also the proud owner of a beautiful Rough Collie, a mischievous pug, a cat, sheep, and a flock of chickens.

Faye, our second veterinary nurse, has a background in zoo keeping and is currently completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Her cheerful personality and caring nature ensure that both our clients and our patients receive exceptional care. At home, she is kept busy by her playful Rottweiler.

Wellness Exam & Vaccinations

Mooloolah Vet recommends a comprehensive physical exams at our animal clinic annually, to ensure your pet is receiving the best medical attention and is on schedule for appropriate pet vaccinations to maintain optimal health. During this exam, all aspects of your pet’s health are addressed and discussed.

We routinely perform all of the general surgery for dogs and cats including de-sexing, lump removals and wound repair.

Orthopedic Surgery

The practice has the capability to undertake many orthopedic procedures including Cruciate repairs in dogs. We also have a mobile surgeon that comes to the practice who brings extensive experience, skills and specialised equipment to tackle the more complicated operations.

Radiology and Ultrasound

Our clinic has digital radiography and we use a very skilled mobile sonographer that performs in house ultrasounds. These provide our team with the diagnostic tools to evaluate internal problems with your pet. In clinic procedures means less travel for you. In addition, results from both can be forwarded to board-certified specialists for review if desired.

Veterinary Dentistry

Dental disease is one of the most common and most preventable problems we see in dogs and cats. It can cause drooling, reluctance to eat, swelling, bad breath, redness of the gums, chronic pain, loose teeth and tooth discoloration. We recommend regular dental exams and cleaning as a preventative measure to help ensure the longevity of your pet. The practice is well equipped to provide dental scaling, polishing and extractions if required.

Laboratory & Pathology Tests

The practice has the ability to perform a large number of routine testing procedures on Blood, urine, faeces, skin and biopsy samples. These tests help to diagnose any disease so we can give the correct treatment and advice.
